Massage Therapy is a regulated Health Profession under the Regulated Health Professionals Act.

An RMT must complete 2200 hours of training from an accredited school. Upon Completion of training, the school will then recommend to the College of Massage Therapist of Ontario, the therapist.

The Therapist must then pass the Practical and Theoretical Exams held by the college.
A successful therapist is then licensed by the college, and is given the designation
of Registered Massage Therapist (RMT).

Rebecca Johnston-Gilchrist , RMT, OMT

My name is Rebecca Johnston.  I was born and raised in London, Ontario.  At a young age I knew my calling was to work in the health care field.  As an adult I knew I wanted a job in the health care field that would be gratifying.

I looked in to massage therapy and it fit the bill so I enrolled myself at the D'Arcy Lane Institute of Massage Therapy in 2000. In 2002 I completed my studies and earned the designation of Registered Massage Therapist.  I began my career at a clinic in St. Thomas where I practised massage therapy  for three years.

In those three years I gained valuable experience treating a variety of conditions such as repetative strain injuries, sciatica, carpel tunnel syndrome, arthritis, migraine headaches, back pain, and motor vehicle accident injuries.

In the winter of 2004 I myself got into a motor vehicle accident and that became my expertise in massage therapy.  I know first hand the pain that is involved in MVA's , the lengthy recovery and legal issues that follow.

In October of 2011 I completed a 4 year course at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy and Holistic Health Sciences and received my Masters of Osteopathic Manipulative Sciences and the designation of Osteopathic Manual Therapist. (What is Osteopathic Manual Therapy? >> read more << )

I have dealt with many insurance companies to get my clients the care they need and deserve.  Whether you are looking at massage therapy for relaxation or for treatment of certain ailments you can trust that you are in good hands at Heritage Health Care Centre.

Crystal Martindale, RMT

I am from Chapleau, Ontario, a small town in northern ontario close to Timmins. I have a strong background in journalism and short story writing.  I left that career for one in massage therapy after I was hit by a drunk driver and needed lower back surgery to repair the damage.  Massage therapy really helped me and that's when I decided on a career change.

I officially made Southwestern Ontario my home in 1999, and started at the D'arcy Lane Institute of Massage Therapy in 2000.  I graduated 18 months later.  As a new massage therapist I was lucky enough to work for some amazing more experienced massage therapists, and gain valuable knowledge. I teamed up with friend and fellow.

massage therapist, Rebecca Johnston, in 2005 to start our own business.  It was something we talked about for a while, and it was so exciting to finally have it become a reality.

I love coming to work everyday, and absolutely love the job I do.  I find it rewarding, enjoyable and fun. By spending as much time as we do with out clients, we're able to treat the whole person as opposed to just treating an injury.  I know our clients appreciate it and I know it makes us better therapists. I look forward to being part of your health care team.

Anne DeCock, RMT

I was born in Welland, Ontario but have lived most of my life here in St. Thomas.

After being laid off from my welder assembly position at Formet Industries, I was looking for a new challenge.  With the help of the second careers program, I enrolled in the Registered Massage Therapy program at D’Arcy Lane Institute.

I thoroughly enjoyed the program, so much so that I took every opportunity to learn additional skills.  While enrolled at D’Arcy Lane, I also completed additional certificates in Hot Stone massage and Pre-natal massage.

I completed the program and started working at Heritage Health in November 2010.  I love the atmosphere here and appreciate the opportunity to meet new clients and help them feel better, whether they come in for relaxation or to treat a specific strain or injury.

I enjoy taking the time to get to know my clients on a personal level as well.  I feel that it benefits both the client and the therapist to help foster a trusting relationship.

In my spare time, I enjoy playing softball, camping, fishing, arts & crafts and scrap-booking.

I look forward to meeting with you to discuss your specific massage therapy needs.
