What is Massage?

The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) states that Massage therapy is the assessment of the soft tissue and joints of body and treatment or prevention of physical dysfunction and pain of these areas by manipulation to develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function or relieve pain. Bassist Swedish massage is the most common form of massage.

Swedish Massage

The most well-known massage. It deals with the soft-tissue structure of the human body by means of a variety of strokes. Strokes are generally applied by hand with oil to lessen friction. Swedish massage can help the body remove toxins, deliver nutrients to tissues and cells more efficiently, and recover from strains and trauma more quickly. (see our fee schedule)

Prenatal

Prenatal massage incorporates basic Swedish Massage geared to meet the unique needs of the maternal body. It promotes overall relaxation while addressing the muscular tension and discomforts associated with pregnancy. (see our fee schedule)

Hot Stone

Hot Stone Massage utilizes smooth basalt river stones. When applied to the body, the stones create a deep penetrating heat to aid in enhancing circulation, reducing muscular tension, soreness and stress, and promoting relaxation. (see our fee schedule)

OSTEOPATHIC MANUAL THERAPY

Osteopathy works on the premise that all parts of the body are integrated and work together.

It is the highest form of holistic, drug free medicine.

It uses non-invasive, manual techniques on the joints, muscles and spine to restore balance and function.  Manual techniques include a combination of moving the joints through all ranges of motion, gentle rocking motions and stretching.

It restores proper movement and improves structural stability.  Each osteopathic manual therapy treatment is tailored specifically to the needs of the individual based on a complete structural evaluation.

It helps the circulation and nervous system to work more effectively by removing stresses, strains and compressions within the body. This frees the flow of the nerves, veins, arteries, and lymphatics.

Osteopathic Manual Therapy can treat a variety of conditions such as:

            • pain
            • headaches
            • repetitive strain injuries
            • constipation
            • infertility
            • neuralgia
            • carpal tunnel
